American Kang Duk Won is a martial art that teaches self-defense and personal fulfillment. The foundation of Kang Duk Won is based upon discipline. Upon the foundation of discipline, a student develops competence which leads to confidence. Confidence then matures to self-discipline, a necessary attribute for success in today's world. In the words of Grandmaster Arndt, "If there is no discipline, there is no art." Although we teach self-defense concepts, we train our students how 'not to fight' through the development of self-confidence and building skills to avoid dangerous situations.
