Grandmaster Arndt embodied the spirit, loyalty, and virtue of American Kang Duk Won.  His frequent quotes, listed below, are organized to take you on a journey that some of us had the benefit of walking with Grandmaster Arndt himself.

"Without discipline, there is no martial art"

"Respect is earned; discipline is demanded!"

"What are your goals?"

"Attitude is everything"

"When someome asks how you are doing; answer, 'I'm great and getting better.'"

"Education is primary"

"The mind controls the body"

"Practice mentally, practice physically, practice actively, practice passively.  Everything your instructor shows you is for your benefit.  Your instructor will never have you do something they would not be willing to do themselves."

"Circular motion defeats linear motion on contact"

"Completely understand each technique and the principle behind it"

"Practice at least 15 minutes each day; 30 minutes for brown belts"

"Don't forget the basics"

When being corrected for improper technique and assigned push-ups: "If you're not going to use technique, at least you'll be strong!"

"You don't have problems, you face challenges"

"There are no such things as excuses, only results"

"Don't worry. Worrying causes high blood pressure, ulcers, and heart attacks!"

"Keep it simple, stupid"

"Smile at your opponent"

"Don't anticipate"

"You can!!!"

Upon earning black belt: "Congratulations! You have now taken the first step in the martial arts."
